Your landing pages are live. You poured hours into crafting it, finding just the right words, and adding those beautiful visuals. But here you are, refreshing your analytics dashboard, and… crickets. Sound familiar?
If your landing pages aren’t converting, you’re not alone. It’s frustrating, but here’s the good news: sometimes, small tweaks can make a massive difference.
You don’t necessarily need to start from scratch or hire an entire marketing team to fix the problem.
Instead, I’m sharing three fast fixes that can turn your underperforming landing page into a high-converting asset so much more easily.
I’ve included quick action steps for of these 3 fixes I am going to tell you about. That way, you’ll know exactly what to tweak to maximize conversions—without having to overhaul ALL of your copy. Trust me, these small things can make a HUGE difference. I see it all the time in my DFY work with multi-6 and 7-figure clients as well as with my Copy Critique Club members.
Fix #1: Clarify Your Offer on your Landing Pages
Here’s a hard truth: confusion kills conversions. If your audience doesn’t understand what you’re offering, how it benefits them, or why they need it, they won’t buy. Period.
When someone lands on your page, you have seconds to grab their attention. Yes, seconds. Your headline and main copy must make them feel they’re in the right place. If it’s vague, overly clever, or full of jargon, they’ll bounce fast.
Here’s what you can do instead:
-
Rewrite Your Headline
Your headline is the first thing people see, so make it clear and benefit-driven. Instead of trying to be clever, aim to be direct. For example:
Instead of: “Revolutionize Your Business,”
Try: “Get 3x More Leads Without Spending a Dollar on Ads.”
-
How Does It Benefit The Reader?
Focus on the benefits your audience will experience—not just the features of your offer.
Instead of saying, “Includes 10 PDF downloads,”
Say this: “You’ll gain 10 step-by-step guides to save you hours of work.”
-
Get Specific
Use numbers, results, or tangible outcomes wherever possible. For example, “Increase Your Sales by 25% in 30 Days” is far more compelling than “Boost Your Sales Quickly.”
Quick Action Step: Test your headline with the “5-second rule.” Can someone understand what your offer is and why they need it within five seconds of landing on your page? If not, tweak it until they can.
Fix #2: Add Social Proof on your Landing Pages
Your audience wants to know one thing before they buy: Can I trust you? Social proof—like testimonials, case studies, and reviews—is your secret weapon for building that trust.
Think about it. If someone sees glowing testimonials from others who’ve had success with your offer, they’re far more likely to believe it will work for them, too. On the flip side, if your landing page is missing social proof, it’s easy for potential buyers to feel skeptical or unsure.
Try this:
-
Include Testimonials
Highlight testimonials that showcase specific, measurable results. Instead of, “This course was great,” aim for something like, “After taking this course, I doubled my revenue in 60 days.”
-
Use Case Studies or Success Stories
Share detailed examples of how your offer has helped others. Walk your audience through the transformation. Where did the client start? What challenges did they face? What results did they achieve?
-
Create a Brag Bar
Add logos of companies you’ve worked with in a brag bar. Or, you could also do a “featured in” strip with logos of podcasts, stages, and media you’ve received. Photos of your clients (with permission), or video testimonials are also super powerful. These elements make your social proof feel even more credible.
Quick Action Step: Having social proof is good, but where you place it also matters. Add at least one piece of social proof near your call-to-action (CTA). Whether it’s a testimonial, a success stat, or a mini case study, place it where your audience is deciding to buy.
Fix #3: Optimize for Scanability on your Landing Pages
Let’s face it: no one is reading your landing page word for word. Visitors skim. If your landing page is a wall of text, they’re not going to read it deeply enough to absorb your message.
You need to make your page skimmable so that your audience can quickly grasp the key points, even if they’re in a hurry.
Here’s how to do it:
-
Use Shorter Paragraphs
Keeping your copy to 2-3 lines max (and plenty of white space!) makes your copy easier on the eyes and encourages them to keep reading down the page.
Use icons, bullet points, or images to highlight key benefits and features. For example, a quick checklist of what’s included in your offer can be far more engaging than a dense paragraph.
-
Use Headings and Subheadings
Add bold, benefit-driven headings throughout your page to guide readers. Think of these as signposts that lead them through your message.
-
Use Formatting to Emphasize Key Points
Use bold or italicized text to draw attention to important phrases or benefits. Just don’t overdo it—too much emphasis can feel chaotic.
Quick Action Step: Take 10 minutes to scan your landing page and identify areas where text feels overwhelming. Break it up, add headings, and make your key benefits stand out.
Why These Fixes Work
These three fixes work because they tackle the most common reasons why landing pages underperform:
- Lack of Clarity: If your audience doesn’t understand your offer, they won’t buy. Fix #1 solves this by making your message crystal clear.
- Skepticism: Without social proof, visitors might not trust you. Fix #2 builds trust by showing proof that your offer delivers results.
- Overwhelm: A cluttered, hard-to-read page can drive visitors away. Fix #3 ensures your landing page is easy to navigate and digest.
By addressing these issues, you’re not just improving your landing page. You’re also creating a better experience for your audience, which ultimately leads to more conversions.
Remember: your sales page isn’t just a page. It’s the final step in your funnel, the place where all your hard work in marketing and content creation pays off. But even the best ads, emails, and webinars can’t save a poorly optimized sales page.
Investing even just 15-30 minutes in these fast fixes can transform your landing pages to get the conversion rates you deserve. Try it, test the results, and build from there.
