๐๐ฝย “I’m not sure what to say.”
๐๐ฝย “I feel like I’m not very good at it.”
๐๐ฝย “I tend to overthink it, then end up scrapping it altogether.”
๐๐ฝย “How do I know if I’ve done it right?”
If you’ve felt this way before, you’re not alone.

You cannot create and destroy at the same time. So why do you try to write (which is creative) and edit (which is destructive) in the same writing session? Get out all your thoughts first, word vomit all over the page, it doesn’t have to make sense, don’t re-read your writing, let the formatting be ugly. Just get all your ideas down on paper, even if they’re all over the place. When you’re done, stop; take a walk, or do something else. When you return to writing, then you can edit, format, and make it pretty.
When you try to make your first draft also your final draft – that’s what causes “writer’s block.”

What are you trying to achieve with your writing? Start with the CTA and work backwards from there. Consider what the reader needs to know so that it makes sense for them to take that next step with you.

This is the real secret of writers. We never start from a blank page; we start from proven frameworks. I study print ads from the 1950s…and the techniques they used then are the same techniques that are still the most effective today. Because the principles of human psychology have not changed much in the last 70 years – we are still very human.
